New Music Maryland

New Music Maryland was established by Dr Shomper in 2016. The primary mission was and continues to be ‘giving voice to living composers through the commission and performance of new works, and to bring artists and audiences closer together through interactive performances.’

New Music Maryland is also committed to performing existing works by modern composers whose works may be unknown or underperformed.

This year’s concert will feature the music of Jerry Ascione. The program will feature new works for cello and piano as well as a piece previously commissioned.

Our goal is to expand the possible options for future collaborations to allow for larger and more varied chamber ensembles, unique instrumentation, and studio recordings of the music for the composers and artists involved!
